My tea for the flu and sore throat
If you are like me, you hate having the flu or a sore throat. Well, last Thursday, I came down with the flu then a few days later the sore throat came. I don't get sick that often so when I do, it is worse. I asked my Aunt, who is into home remedies what to take and she recommended the following: drink lots of water; lemon; honey; turmeric; pepper; garlic; ginger; cinnamon; and herbal tea. So I decided to make a tea out of the ingredients.
My tea recipe is:
Ingredients:
Turmeric
Pepper
Cinnamon
Peppermint Tea Bags
Ginger
Garlic
Honey
Add all the ingredients except for the honey in the coffee maker. I don't have any measurements because I didn't measure them, I just poured it in. Add the water in the coffee pot and turn on. When done, pour the tea in a cup and add the honey to taste.
I love this tea.
When you are sick, you need to stay hydrated with water. Avoid caffeine, which was hard for me since I love coffee. Drink warm soup or broth. Drinking herbal tea with honey and lemon helps soothes your sore throat. Which it did with mine. Adding the ginger helps with reducing nausea, the garlic is a natural antibiotic and is antibacterial. Peppermint tea helps to calm a fever. Drinking lemon in water also helps with soothing a sore throat. Cinnamon is also considered to be another effective antiviral and antibiotic. Turmeric is a natural antibiotic that helps with the flu and the pepper makes it powerful. Another drink is water with lemon that will help with your sore throat.
Taking a hot bath with 1 cup of Epsom Salt, 1 cup of Baking Soda and 2 TBSP Powdered Ginger, will help with the aches and pains of having the flu. Drink water while taking the bath to keep you hydrated.
If your symptoms persist, then go see your doctor.
